James Brown - Hell (1974)

Referencia obligada para conectar con el poder total que James Brown proyectó en sus discos de mediados de los 70, Hell cimentó el denominado New Super Heavy Funk. Se publicó como doble album un año después del superventas The Payback, convirtiéndose en uno de los discos más 'duros' de Brown. Prácticamente todo en estas grabaciones, funciona a la perfección.

The Bar-Kays - Soul Finger (1967)

Antes de autoproclamarse como banda independiente, los integrantes de Bar-Kays ya acompañaban a los mejores vocalistas de discográficas como Stax o Volt. Dos de sus componentes, James Alexander (bajo) y Ben Cauley (trompeta), acompañaban a Otis Redding en el avión cuyo desgraciado accidente acabo con sus vidas en el mes de diciembre de 1967. El grupo fue renovando su personal hasta el año 2003, fecha donde publicaron su último album. De lo que no hay duda es que Soul Finger sigue siendo uno de sus mejores trabajos, testimonio fiel de ese sonido tan característico en este tipo de bandas en los gloriosos años 60.
