Recién inaugurado el nuevo año, hoy salí a investigar qué nuevos discos atraerían mi atención. Hace pocas semanas leí que Vampisoul cocía en su laboratorio un nuevo CD sampler con una nueva selección que incluiría canciones de sus discos más recientes. Lo encontré, lo llevé a casa y ahora lo comparto con vosotros. Tras la primera escucha, el nivel de satisfacción es, como esperaba, sobresaliente. Muy ecléctico, muy raro, muy vampi.

Hot Chocolate - Hot Chocolate (1971)

Hot Chocolate fue el proyecto liderado por el venerado guitarrista, compositor y productor Lou Ragland, procedente de Cleveland, Ohio. Este disco es hoy considerado como una 'pieza rara' dentro del funk. De él se publicaron en 1971 tan solo 500 copias, de ahí que su reedición en 1999 impulsara de nuevo el fabuloso sonido de sus canciones, algunas de ellas memorables instrumentales.

La historia de Melting Pot Music comienza en 2002, cuando el DJ y músico alemán Olski sienta las bases de su proyecto en Colonia. Por la discográfica pasaron formaciones tan interesantes como Lefties Soul Connection, una de las bandas favoritas funk de Europa. La colección se centra en los primeros años de MPM, donde ya se aprecia la variedad de estilos que definirían su sonido.
